Structure Determination of Organic Compounds: Tables of Spectral Data

E. Pretsch, P. Bühlmann, C. Affolter “Structure Determination of Organic Compounds: Tables of Spectral Data " .
Springer | 2004-03-22 | ISBN: 3540678158 | 421 pages | PDF | 10,6 MB

This volume presents in the form of texts, tables, charts and graphs a modern compilation of spectroscopic reference data for IR, UV/Vis, 1H- and 13C-NMR, MS (incl. prototype spectra of almost every important class of organic compounds and spectra of MALDI and FAB matrix materials) and is intended as a short textbook and a hands-on guide for interpreting experimental spectral data and elucidating the chemical structure of the respective compound behind it. The concise texts include special chapters on fragmentation rules in mass spectrometry and on currently used multipulse and 2-D NMR techniques. The book is primarily designed for students to be used during courses and exercises. The use of the book requires only basic knowledge of spectroscopic techniques, but is structured in such a way that it will support practitioners routinely faced with the task of interpreting such spectral information, and it will serve as data reference for specialists in the fields.

R. H Wright “Manual of Laboratory Glass-blowing"
Chemical publishing co., inc | 1943 | ASIN: B0006AQ0O4 | 90 pages | Djvu | 1,2 MB

When Benjamin Graham died at 82, he was one of the great legends of Wall Street: brilliant, succesful, ethical--the man who invented the discipline of security analysis. Time has only enhanced his reputation, with disciples such as billionaire investor Warren Buffet's continuing to praise Graham and crediting his work in their own successes. Now, 20 years after his death, his memoirs are reaching the public at last. Graham's story is a hugely satisfying chronicle of one of the richest and most eventful lives of the century. Here is a life that will captivate Wall Streeters and history buffs alike. Graham recounts his immigrant childhood in old New York--his excellent education in the city's public schools and on scholarship at Columbia University--the first crucial deal in his professional life--the devastating effects of the Crash of '29--and the tactics that helped him and his clients survive the Depression. Graham's fascinating account also encompasses his bold efforts at currency reform--his involvement with such towering figures as FDR, Churchill, Eisenhower, and Baruch--and looks at how success took its toll on his marriage and family life.

Handbook of Polymer Testing
Smithers Rapra Technology | ISSN 185957324X | 2002-06-01 | PDF | 224 Pages | 7,6 Mb

Knowledge of the properties of plastics is essential for designing products, specifying the material to be used, carrying out quality control on finished products, failure analysis and for understanding the structure and behaviour of new materials.
Each class of materials has its own specific test procedures, which have developed as the material has evolved. This book concentrates on one area of testing – short-term mechanical tests. These are defined as tests of mechanical properties where the effects of long periods of time and cycling are ignored. This group of tests includes hardness, tensile, compression, shear, flexing, impact and tear and in this book it is also taken to include density and dimensional measurement together with test piece preparation and conditioning.
The topics covered in this book, include:
1 Introduction: this explains, Reasons for Testing, Source and Condition of Test Pieces, Test Conditions, Limitations of Results, Sampling, Standards, Quality Control of Testing, Test Equipment, Product Testing, and Modes of Stressing.
2 Test Piece Preparation: Mixing, Moulding, Stamping from Sheet or Film, and Machining.
3 Conditioning: Storage, Conditioning, Heat Treatment, Mechanical Conditioning, Test Conditions, and Apparatus for Conditioning.
4 Mass, Density and Dimensions: Measurement of Mass, of Density, and of Dimensions.
5 Hardness: Relationships, Standard Methods, and Other Methods.
6 Tensile Stress-Strain: General, and Test Methods.
7 Compression Stress-Strain: Test Apparatus, Standard, and Other Tests.
8 Shear Properties: Standard, and Other Tests.
9 Flexural Stress-Strain: General, and Test Methods.
10 Impact Strength: General, and Specific Tests.
11 Tear Properties: Test Piece Geometry, Standard, and Other Tests
12 Fracture Toughness: Standard, and Other Methods.
This book will be useful to all those who are already involved in the testing of polymers and it is an ideal guide to those just starting out in the field, whether in academia or industry.

    NCSS PASS 11 v11.0.7

    image

    NCSS PASS 11 v11.0.7 | 46.9 MB

A statistical test's power is the probability that the test procedure will result in statistical significance. Power is related to the sample size, the size of the type I (alpha) error, the actual size of the effect, and the size of experimental error. All of these must be considered in order to calculate statistical power. As statistical significance is usually the desired outcome, planning and running a study to achieve a high power is of prime importance to the researcher. Because of the complexity of the calculations, the determination of the power is often ignored or only a casual attempt is made at its calculation by adopting some, so-called, "rule-of-thumb." PASS performs power analysis and calculates sample sizes. Use it before you begin a study to calculate an appropriate sample size (it meets the requirements of government agencies that demand technical justification of the sample size you have used). Use it after a study to determine if your sample size was large enough.
PASS lets you solve for power, sample size, effect size, and alpha level. It automatically displays charts and graphs along with numeric tables and text summaries in a portable format that is cut and paste compatible with all word processors so you can easily include the results in your proposal.
PASS is a standalone system. You can use it with any statistical analysis software you want. Click here for the PASS 11 minimum system requirements.
PASS is accurate. It has been extensively verified using books and reference articles. Proof of the accuracy of each procedure is included in the extensive documentation.
PASS comes with three manuals that contain tutorials, examples, annotated output, references, formulas, validation, and complete instructions on each procedure. And, if you cannot find an answer in the manual, our free technical support staff (which includes three PhD statisticians) is available.
No other program calculates sample sizes and power for as many different statistical procedures as does PASS. Specifying your input is easy, especially with the online help and manual.
Validation. Each procedure in PASS is fully-documented and validated using published literature. Validation examples are presented at the end of each procedure chapter in the documentation.
Choose PASS. It's more comprehensive, easier-to-use, and accurate than any other sample size program on the market.
Features. PASS is the most comprehensive sample size program available with over 165 statistical procedures. Accuracy of each procedures is well validated. PASS is easy to learn and use. PASS is a standalone software package (no other stat package is required). PASS easily produces sharp, flexible graphics. PASS output is easily transferred to popular word processors and presentation software such as PowerPoint.
